Our Living Island

Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a rare expression of luxury in one of the world’s most extraordinary natural environments. Located in the remote Huvadhoo Atoll, the resort has been developed around a deep respect for its island ecosystem, creating an experience where nature is not simply the setting, but an active part of the property’s identity.

ADELAHAYE worked alongside the teams at Hyatt and the resort ownership, together with hospitality consultant Jason Friedman and his team, to evolve the property level branding and guest experience for Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa.

The objective was to create a distinctive identity and communication system that could express the individual character of Hadahaa while complementing, rather than competing with, the global Park Hyatt identity.

Hospitality Branding Agency Maldives

A Living Island

At the heart of the project was the positioning Our Living Island, an idea that reflects both the physical nature of Hadahaa and the philosophy behind the resort.

Unlike many resort islands in the Maldives, Hadahaa was not artificially created or substantially reshaped through imported sand or artificial pumping. The resort exists within a naturally evolving island ecosystem, surrounded by one of the Maldives’ most remarkable house reefs.

The island moves, changes and regenerates. Beaches shift with the seasons. Tides redraw the shoreline. Vegetation grows and adapts. Marine life moves through the reef. The resort lives within these natural rhythms rather than attempting to control them.

This became the foundation for a property brand centred on regenerative hospitality and a closer relationship between guest, resort and environment.

The Luxury of Time

Being on Hadahaa changes the perception of time.

Removed from the routines, screens and distractions of everyday life, days become defined less by the clock and more by sunlight, tides, weather, meals and moments of discovery.

This sense of time shifting became an important part of the brand narrative and informed our approach to the wider customer journey.

Working alongside Jason Friedman and his team, we looked closely at how the resort could remove unnecessary touchpoints, communications and distractions rather than continually adding more. The intention was to create space for guests to disconnect and become immersed in the island itself.

It reflects a quieter expression of luxury: fewer interruptions, greater freedom and the opportunity to experience Hadahaa at its natural pace.

Shifting Sands

The visual language takes inspiration from one of the simplest experiences on the island: walking along Hadahaa’s pristine coral sand beaches.

As each wave moves across the shoreline, it leaves behind subtle gradients, textures and patterns. These exist only momentarily before being softened, changed or erased by the next tide.

This constant movement informed a graphic system based around gradients, transitions, layers and organic forms.

Rather than introducing a rigid secondary identity, the system creates a flexible visual language that can continually shift across communications while remaining recognisably Park Hyatt.

The result complements the sophistication of the global Park Hyatt identity while giving Hadahaa a distinctive property level expression rooted directly in the island.

A New Visual Story

A new suite of photography and visual assets was created by JAGAT, capturing the landscape, architecture, people, experiences and quieter details that define life on Hadahaa.

Working with this new visual direction, we developed a more immersive and editorial communication language across the property.

Photography was given space to tell the story, supported by restrained typography, shifting graphic elements and a communication style that feels less corporate and more connected to the rhythms of the island.

The resulting system informed an extensive new suite of marketing materials, guest collateral and property communications, creating greater consistency between how Hadahaa is presented before arrival and how the brand is experienced once on the island.

From Identity to Experience

Our work extended beyond conventional resort branding into the wider guest journey.

Together with Hyatt and the wider project team, we considered how Our Living Island could be expressed through every stage of the experience, from pre arrival communications and the arrival journey to dining, wellness, discovery and the moments guests encounter throughout their stay.

This meant questioning what was genuinely necessary.

Where communications or physical collateral could be removed, simplified or made more intuitive, we explored doing so. Where an interaction could instead become an opportunity for discovery or connection, the experience was reconsidered through the lens of the brand.

The objective was not to place branding everywhere, but to make the philosophy behind the brand quietly present everywhere.

Bringing the Island Into Every Touchpoint

The identity was translated across a comprehensive suite of on property collateral, marketing communications and digital touchpoints.

This included the development of a dedicated visual and interface system for the resort’s in room IPTV, allowing information, experiences and storytelling to be presented in a way that felt unmistakably Hadahaa while remaining aligned with Park Hyatt’s global standards.

Food and beverage venues were considered not simply as places to eat, but as opportunities to create experiences connected to the island, its environment and the wider narrative.

Chef collaborations, fine dining experiences and more informal moments were considered as part of the same brand ecosystem, allowing the culinary programme to become another expression of place.

Discovery for Every Generation

Particular attention was given to experiences that could create a deeper understanding of Hadahaa and its surrounding ecosystem.

Children’s activities were considered as meaningful opportunities for discovery rather than simply entertainment, connecting younger guests with the natural environment and creating memories rooted specifically in the island.

The resort’s environmental initiatives, including the Eka Lab, reef preservation and marine ecosystem activities, were also brought more closely into the guest experience and communication system.

These programmes give guests the opportunity to understand the living environment surrounding them and reinforce the idea that sustainability and regeneration at Hadahaa are not abstract brand messages. They are things that can be seen, explored and participated in.

Designing With Less

The same thinking was applied to physical production.

We explored natural and responsibly sourced papers, natural dyes, reduced production processes and opportunities to utilise materials available on the island or within closer proximity wherever practical.

The objective was to reduce unnecessary transportation, production and waste while ensuring that every physical item felt appropriate to the tactile and understated character of the resort.

Rather than creating more branded objects, the focus was on creating fewer, better considered ones.

Our Living Island

The evolved Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa brand demonstrates how a global luxury hospitality brand can develop an intensely individual sense of place without losing the equity and consistency of its international identity.

Our Living Island became more than a positioning statement.

It provided a framework for the identity, photography, communications, customer journey, dining, environmental programmes, children’s activities, digital experiences and the hundreds of small interactions that collectively shape a stay.

From the shifting patterns left by the tide to the life beneath the surrounding reef, Hadahaa is continually changing.

The brand was designed to live in the same way.

Responsive, immersive and unmistakably of its place.
